Spring Splash 1998
Greetings all. Donald here.
We had a good turn out for our club with 5 vehicles and about 13 people show up. Steve, bondo Dave and I got there about 9 am on Thur morning and then proceeded to sit there for about 3 hours. You know, the usual sh*t. Once we got in we saw that the new park was actually quite nice. It had a decent amount of grass and shade with plenty of river front camp spots. We set up camp and took Steve's jet skis out on the river. He has a few redeeming qualities and owning two jet skis is the main one.
We were supposed to park with Xiles again but they somehow didn't see our campsite (which I really don't understand as we have our banner in a new stand, that Steve built for us, that stands about 10 feet in the air). My friend Joker, his wife Julie, and her friend April showed up that night. Tim, Marie, Shawn, and Dominick and some of their friends all showed up on Friday night and partied it up with us. Have any of you ever tried Gold Shlager? I have now. I had about nine shots of it on that Friday night. Needless to say, I felt no pain. If anybody from Banzai is reading this, tell Brian (or Scott or Jeff, my memory is a little fuzzy from that night) that he still owes me 5 bucks. Most of us went out and danced to the 3 or 4 cd's that the DJ was playing at the stage and had a pretty good time. I discovered that I dance much better when I'm ripped. After talking to the girls in the morning I discovered that I THINK that I dance much better when I'm ripped. That's okay, I danced with a couple of different women and had a really good time so that's all that I care about.
I crashed about three and good old Dominick got me up at six to get in line for the show. Thanks Dominick I really appreciated that. After falling asleep in line 5 or 6 times we finally made it into the show area, which was actually quite nice. I showed my 98' Tacoma and Dominic showed his Honda. We spent a couple of hours cleaning and went back to camp and back out on the river.
Saturday night they had the Bikini contest, which was just that, a bikini contest. I myself would have liked to see some nudity but it was still a good time. They had some hotties out there. I finished off another bottle of Gold Shlager and was good to go for the night.
The next morning we cleaned up the camp and headed out to the awards presentation. The little book we got when we came in said that the awards would be at 9 am so I had everybody meet me there at about a quarter to 10. They started about 11. There's nothing like organization. Just giving them a hard time there. That's about the only thing that have to complain about for the whole weekend execpt for the DJ. I swear that guy only owns like 10 cd's. Anyway, none of us won anything but that's okay, we all had a really good time and are going to miss this run if it doesn't return next year.
My hat goes of to Brad Rogers and Spectrum for holding one hell of a run for ten years and I have nothing but respect for all of them.
Feel free to e-mail me with any comments that you may have.
