Endless Summer 1997

Greetings all. Donald here.

This is my first editorial, but it's definitely not going to be the last. All the pictures on this page and about 80% of the pictures on the other pages were taken by me, so feel free to send me all the praise that you want.

Anyway, on to the run. As usual Shawn and I made it to the run but nobody else did. Dana and Billy were all set to go but one of Dana's rear airbag mounts broke so those two losers didn't make it either. I guess it was a good thing that we arranged over the internet to camp with XILES again.

Being the dedicated act one members that we are, we got up Thursday morning, packed all of our stuff into Shawn's Jimmy and my BRAND NEW 1998 Toyota Tacoma and headed out. We traveled up to Interstate 10 and we were on our way to to La Paz County Park. (YES! back to a real park) Halfway up the 10 Shawn's truck started acting funny so we stopped and took a look. Nothing, so we kept going. Pretty soon his stereo started acting funny . We stopped and looked. Nothing, so we kept going. Half way down Rice Road his truck died. So I stopped and went back to where he was. We stopped and looked. Something, the power wire from his battery to his alternator fell off. Right on! I, of course, had some electrical connectors in my BRAND NEW 1998 Toyota Tacoma so we hooked it back up and we were good to go.

Have you ever pre-reged? I would strongly suggest it. We rolled up to the park, passed about oh, 50 trucks lined up on the side of the road and got right in. It's good to be me. One of the guys from XILES found us right away and pointed us toward their camp site. We got our camp all set up and then just kicked it for the rest of the weekend.

Most of the guys from XILES showed up on Friday. We partied it up until about 1 when those crazy bastards decided that they were going to lower two of their members cars even more! Whoah. We ended up crashing about 4 and getting up at 5 to get in line for the show. I showed my BRAND NEW 1998 Toyota Tacoma. After cleaning my truck for a couple hours at the show I headed back to camp. Some friends of mine showed up with their Wave Runner and I spent a good part of the day on it. Water toys rule. I broke out the old video camera and went and taped the truck show and quite a few women too! I also taped the wet t-shirt contest as well. That contest made the video camera purchase well worth it. After the contest I headed back to camp and proceeded to drink entirely too much of my imfamous Jungle Juice.

We stumbled out of our tents on Sunday morning, broke down our camp and headed out to the awards presentation. I didn't win a damn thing for my BRAND NEW 1998 Toyota Tacoma. Oh well, there's always next year. None of the guys from XILES won anything either, but we all had a killer time anyway. I look forward to next years run.

I brought along my video camera and made a beyond amateur video of the truck show and the totally wild wet t-shirt contest.
